Dr. Tamara (Tami) Goetz PhD, is currently the Executive Director for the Utah STEM Action Center, in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Prior to this role, she was appointed by Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. to serve as the Governor’s State Science Advisor. She helped to create the Utah STEM Action Center during her tenure as State Science Advisor to Governor Gary Herbert.
Dr. Goetz worked with educational partners to design high school and undergraduate programs in Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing and served as the Director of the Salt Lake Community College Biotechnology program. She helped to create innovative programs such as a student-driven contract research organization (InnovaBio) and a life sciences incubator (BioInnovations Gateway) that supported start up companies.
Dr. Goetz has received numerous awards including “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” and “30 Women to Watch” by Utah Business magazine, the Award of Merit by the National Association for Career and Technical Education, the Women Technology Council’s “Community Builder” award, the Utah Technology Council’s STEM Advocate of the Year and the Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology.
